Differently as with other boxes, the BIOS is reached over a serial cable. The Bios CFE (stands for Common Firmware Environment) is developed and offered by Broadcom. The interaction is done by a GUI, or by the Command-Line (CLI).
Requirements
The requirements to access the BIOS are:
- Program for serial communication (e.g. PuTTY)
- USB ↔ Mini USB cable
- Installed USB / UART drivers under Windows
Set up serial connection
- Set up serial connection with the Box e.g. via PuTTY.
- Switch on the Dreambox while keep pushing the ↑ button.
- The BIOS should appear automatically after a few seconds.
CLI Modus
The following output shows the start of the Dreambox in the BIOS / CFE Mode.
